Forex Trading Profit Per Day | How Much Is $100 a Day in Forex?

A $100 day sounds like one goal, but it describes very different trades depending on the balance behind it. On a $10,000 account, $100 is a 1% move. On a $1,000 account, it is 10%. On a $100 account, it means doubling the balance in a single session.

The dollar target stays the same while the risk multiplies. A trader with a small account who insists on $100 a day has only one lever to pull, and that is position size. Larger positions make each pip worth more, and that works in both directions.

A side-by-side table of forex trading profit per day at different account sizes shows how the same dollar figure translates into very different percentage returns.

The compounding illusion

Many social media posts suggest that 1% a day is a modest, achievable target. The math says otherwise.

With roughly 250 trading days in a year, compounding 1% daily turns $1,000 into about $12,000, a return of more than 1,000% in twelve months. Returns like that are extraordinary, and any claim that treats them as routine deserves caution.

Losses cost more than gains return

Drawdowns are harder to recover from than they look:

  • A 10% loss needs an 11.1% gain to break even.

  • A 20% loss needs a 25% gain.

  • A 50% loss needs a 100% gain.

A trader chasing a daily target after a losing day is not just trying to earn. They are trying to climb out of a hole that grows faster than it feels.

Win rate is only half the story

The win rate a strategy needs depends on its risk-to-reward ratio. Before costs, the break-even win rate is 1 ÷ (1 + reward-to-risk):

  • At 1:1, you need to win 50% of trades.

  • At 1:2, you need 33.3%.

  • At 1:3, you need 25%.

This is why a strategy that wins most of the time can still lose money, and one that wins less than half the time can still be profitable.

Costs matter most for short-term traders

A 1-pip spread on a trade targeting 5 pips uses up 20% of the potential gain before commission and slippage. Scalpers and very active day traders feel this more than anyone. Net results after all costs are the only numbers that count.

A better daily target

Instead of a daily profit number, many disciplined traders set two limits before the session starts: the maximum risk per trade and the maximum loss per day. Profit then becomes the result of a process rather than a quota to fill.

The bottom line

There is no fixed daily income in forex. Account size, position size, risk, strategy and costs decide the outcome, and losing days are part of every trading record. The more useful question is not "how much can I make today?" but "how much am I prepared to lose, and does my strategy have an edge over hundreds of trades?"
