This can be caused by motor oil contamination, air infiltration into the lifter, or insufficient oil pressure. Air bubbles in the lubrication system can also prevent the lifter from supporting the valve spring load, resulting in temporary noise that typically disappears after the air is purged. Regular maintenance and the use of high-quality motor oil with excellent thermal stability are crucial to prevent these problems and maximize the longevity of hydraulic lifters.
