The investment is also not a small one, and can run you several hundred to several thousand dollars. It’s well worth it, given the performance of Nocpix thermal optics, but it also means that you should take some time to learn how to properly care for the scope. 

Regular cleaning of your new Nocpix thermal scope will ensure optimal performance and will potentially improve image clarity while also extending battery life. Here are some high level notes for care and maintenance. 

• After use, wipe the optic clean with a microfiber cloth to remove any visible dust or debris. Use an appropriate cloth or lens cleaning device on the lens and sensor in order to prevent damage. 
  
  
• Store the Nocpix scope in the case it came with from the manufacturer in order to prevent an accumulation of dust or other debris. 
  
  
• Inspect the seals on the body of the scope, as well as around the buttons, to ensure that they are in good shape.
  
  
• When in the field, use lens caps compatible with your Nocpix thermal scope, when the scope is not actively in use. This will prevent damage to the lens (and possibly the display) while also keeping dust off of them. 
  
  
• Don’t allow the battery to remain dead or at a low state of charge for any prolonged period of time. Also, use the original charger that came with the optic to keep the battery health topped off. Always maintain a charge level between 50% and 80% and do not attempt to charge at below freezing temperatures or you will damage the battery.
  
  
• Store your Nocpix thermal scope in a cool, dry environment. Both high and low temperatures, as well as high humidity, can damage a thermal scope or its battery.
  
  
• Periodically ensure that the thermal scope’s software is up to date. When performing updates, plug the scope into a charger to prevent power supply interruptions that could interfere with the update. 
  
  
• If you are going to store the scope for a prolonged period of time and it has removable batteries, remove these to prevent parasitic draw and extend battery life, as well as to prevent damage to the electric contacts. 
  
  
• And, as a general rule, handle your Nocpix thermal scope gently. It might be a robust and durable piece of equipment, but it is still an electronic device and an optic that deserves proper handling and respect.
