Liemstall: A Town at the Edge of Danger

Liemstall is the first town Nyla, Yevian, and Wilbur Woodstone enter after their exile. Soldiers from the Liemstall Dukedom find them and bring them into the town. For people who have just lost their homes, Liemstall offers food, shelter, and a chance to begin a new life.

The town has homes, shops, guards, and families. It is a place where people try to live ordinary lives, even though the Realm of Ruin is never far away.

Many people in Liemstall wear enchanted masks. These masks can seal away personal memories, including the life a person lived before exile. Wilbur chooses a mask because the pain of remembering is too much for him. Nyla and Yevian choose to keep their memories.

Liemstall may seem peaceful at first, but it is not safe from monsters. Soon after Nyla and

Yevian arrive, a huge rope monster attacks the town. It crushes buildings and sends people running through the streets. The creature is controlled by a specter, making the battle even more difficult.

The attack shows that even a town with guards and walls can be reached by danger.

The Roads and Forests Beyond the Town

After joining Dice’s monster-hunting guild, Arrow and Jester begin to travel beyond Liemstall. The guild does not remain in one place. Dice, Cloak, Frost, and Clip take bounties from towns that need help with dangerous creatures.

The roads of the Realm of Ruin lead toward forests, coasts, caves, and settlements where people are afraid to go outside. A monster may be lurking near docks, feeding on fish and frightening fishermen. Another may be hiding in a cave or moving through the trees.

When the guild prepares to fight a Blaze Ape near the eastern coast, they travel for several days and make camp in a dark forest. Dice and Arrow speak with the city lord to learn about the danger near the docks. Frost and Jester investigate the creature while Cloak and Clip scout the forest.

These places are not only paths between towns. They are part of the guild’s work. The hunters must understand the land, prepare for a fight, and remain careful even when the journey seems quiet.

Caves and the Unknown

Among all the places in the Realm of Ruin, El Dorado is one of the most important. It is hidden beneath vines and plant life in the jungle. At first, the city is difficult to see. Then Dice brushes the vines away and reveals a floor made of pure gold.

El Dorado is not a place built for comfort or treasure. It is a locked prison.

The Gray Prince created El Dorado to contain powerful beings with too much intelligence. These beings could plan, gather followers, and become warlords. If they were allowed to move freely through the realm, they could bring greater danger to towns and people across the world.

The city is locked, and only the Five Emperors have the key.

For Dice, El Dorado is the greatest challenge in the Realm of Ruin. He dreams of entering the city one day and facing the powerful monsters inside.
